The Importance of Voice
Ndeda Letson stresses the importance of voice and making space for everyone, not just those who are the loudest. She promotes respect for people's experiences and collective memories. While people who have different social locations may have difficulties initially relating to what people who are not like them experience, time must be taken to listen and hear. This is how we broaden understanding that can lead to community change. this also means that the people impacted need more than a "seat at the table" - they need to be treated as equals and as partners, with their concerns heard and addressed.
